Aprašymas: The program characterizes a priori this awarded film as "great" and "bold" and informs us that as it was based on Clifford Odet's play, it is "impregnated by the intense leftist ideology of the writer". Continues with the film plot, the central hero of which is a great Hollywood movie star with a "fairy tale career", who accuses himself, however, for his luxurious life. As his wife wants a divorce and his contract expires, he is thinking of giving everything up and go to New York, to play there in a play of his choice and to find himself again. However, the "ruthless" producer has other plans for him. The program singles out the "flawless" technique of the film as opposed to the "many exaggerations and improbabilities" of the screen play. Concludes with the comment that the actors were guided by the director "artfully".
